AAFC Board of Directors Strategy Meeting

12/8/2018

The Board of Directors of the Association of Australian Football Clubs (AAFC) has met this weekend to discuss progress of the AAFC over the past year since the Directors’ first face-to-face meeting in July last year.

The Board welcomed and thanked the endorsement of its role in the football ecosystem in Australia by FIFA, AFC, FFA, the state member federations, the A-League clubs and the PFA, and looks forward to working with all stakeholders to progress the important reforms to governance within the game.

The other issues discussed at the two-day strategy meeting include:

  • the outcomes of the Congress Review Working Group, its implications for AAFC, and the steps AAFC needs to take to meet its fast-tracked qualifying membership of the new-look FFA Congress;
  • entering into memoranda of understanding with the state member federations and other stakeholders;
  • progress with the working group on the national second division competition, including forthcoming meetings with the PFA and the A-League clubs;
  • the matters for discussion at the forthcoming workshop on the operation of the national second division for interested clubs, tentatively scheduled for October 2018;
  • the national review of the NPL competition being conducted by FFA in conjunction with the AAFC and the state member federations;
  • the state-based briefings on the NPL review by AAFC Directors;
  • the proposed national NPL youth championships to be held for the first time in 2020 across a range of age groups for both boys and girls; and
  • set a date for the AAFC annual general meeting of 24 October 2018.
